This privacy policy explains how personal data is processed when using Calyak.

Hosting and Server Log Files

Calyak is provided through Netlify. When the website is accessed, technically necessary connection data may be processed, including IP address, time of access, requested resources, browser information, and log files required for stability and security.

This processing is necessary to deliver the website at https://calyak.com, detect attacks, and ensure the technical operation of the service. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in securely providing the website).

Server log data is stored by Netlify according to its own retention periods and deleted when it is no longer required for security and operation.

Sign-in and User Accounts

Calyak uses Clerk for sign-in, registration, and session management. In this context, data required to create and manage your account may be processed, including your email address, authentication status, and technical authentication information.

This processing is necessary so that you can sign in securely, use your account, and access protected functions of the app. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR (performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures).

Account data is stored for as long as your user account exists. After deletion of your account, the data is deleted in accordance with Clerk's retention policies.

Backend and Application Data

Content and usage data entered in Calyak, such as event names, descriptions, date ranges, availability information, and related user references, are processed and stored through Convex.

This processing is required to provide the core functions of the app, especially creating events, sharing planning links, and evaluating availability. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR (performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures).

This data is stored for as long as it is needed to provide the app's functions. Event data is generally stored until the relevant event is deleted.

Language Preference and Cookie

Calyak uses a functional cookie to remember your selected language. This allows the app to load directly in the language you last used on later visits.

This cookie is not used for advertising or tracking purposes. It is only used to provide the language display you requested. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in a user-friendly presentation of the website).

The language cookie is stored for up to one year.

Local Storage on Your Device

Calyak also stores local settings in your browser, especially your theme preference for light or dark mode. This information is saved in local storage on your device so the interface remains consistent on your next visit.

This storage is used only for functional purposes and not for analytics or personalized advertising. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in a consistent display of the website).

The stored setting remains on your device until you delete it yourself or clear your browser storage.

Contact Form

If you use the contact form on the imprint page, your request will be transmitted via Web3Forms and forwarded to our email address. Depending on your input, your name, email address, message content, and technical metadata such as your IP address may be processed.

The processing is carried out to handle and respond to your request. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in efficient communication with users).

Your message data is processed only for handling your request and deleted when it is no longer required, unless legal retention obligations apply. Web3Forms may additionally use spam protection services such as CleanTalk or Akismet.

Third-Country Transfers

Some of the services used by Calyak, in particular Netlify, Clerk, Convex, and Web3Forms, may process personal data in countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area, especially in the United States.

If personal data is transferred to such third countries, this is done on the basis of an adequacy decision, in particular the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable, or on the basis of suitable safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Please note that data protection in third countries may nevertheless differ from the level of protection within the EU.

Your Rights

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you have the right to obtain access to your personal data and to request rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing.

If you want to exercise any of these rights, you can contact us via contact@calyak.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.
